The Scorpaenidae (also known as scorpionfish)  are a family of marine fish that includes many of the world's most venomous species living in Indo-Pacific. Scorpionfish are covered in feathery fins or skin flaps that help with camouflage against surrounding coral. As their name suggests, scorpionfish have a type of "sting" in the form of sharp dorsal fin coated with venomous mucus. There are venom glands in the spines of the dorsal, anal, and pelvic fins in some species. When the spines pierce a predator, the venom is injected immediately at the point of contact.
