Sea Jewel
Sea Jewel is a light, bright aqua color with a tinge of green. It is beautiful as a liquid dye. It contains a lot of turquoise so for ice dyeing, more dye powder will be needed to get a strong result. The ice dyed sample was made on a 10X10" cotton square. It was on a rack for drainage; we used about a cup of crushed ice on top with a level 1/4 tsp. dye sprinkled on the ice. Ice dyeing is unpredictable; the swatch is just to give you a general idea. For the traditional reactive dyeing process you will need dye powder, soda ash, urea (opt.), fabric detergent (opt.), dust mask, gloves, and safety glasses. Dye Mixing: For the color swatch, we used 1/2 tsp Sea Jewel dye powder to 1/2 cup warm water with 1/2 tsp urea. You can use less dye powder to get a lighter hue or more dye powder for a darker hue.
