2022 Barbera El Dorado For our 2022 El Dorado Barbera, we took an atypical approach. Our desire was to produce an approachable, fruit-driven, terroir-expressive Barbera, unadulterated by extended maceration and oak. We arrived at a wine of tremendous complexity. The nose opens with effusive notes of plumeria, sweet tobacco, cherry compote and tar. The El Dorado terroir comes alive on the palate-- robust, yet restrained-- with dusty blackberry, rose essence, pie cherry and framboise. Texturally dense, lifted by zippy acidity with sweet stone fruit across the mid-palate. The finish is generous and bright, making for an ideal summer red.
