This Pruett Carter gem of observation is a vivid sketch or maquette for a story illustration. The two boys are having a serious discussion. The one on the bike is conveying important and possibly urgent information before taking off... to tell someone else? The other boy is receiving the news with full attention and consideration. The painting comes to us from the estate of the daughter of the attorney who was left in charge of the artist's estate. Board measures 18 1/2" x 25" Studied under Walter Biggs. As art director for Good Housekeeping, Pruett Carter gave himself his first illustration assigment. WWI service.
