Chondrus Crispus naturally varies in color greenish when wet, purple when drying, and blond when fully sun-dried. During the winter months, the moss is dried by the sun, resulting in its characteristic blond tone. The plant’s natural mucilage contains carrageen, a type of pectin also found in ripe fruits.
