Chestnut Extract comes from the bark and heartwood of the Chestnut tree (Costanea sativa or Sweet Chestnut) that is native to Italy and Southern France and grows throughout Europe. It contains 5%-10% tannic acid and is used extensively in the natural leather tanning industry.
