Crisp, sugary sweet and very hardy! They will keep several weeks. Great for fresh eating and canning. Small to medium sized fruit is golden with a red blush and roundish form. Ripens late September. Pick early and allow to ripen in side or store cool. Pollinate with another communis type pear. … Sadly uncommon around here. Pears are a great fruit for Central Vermont. Pears suffer from fewer pests and diseases than apple trees, making it easier to grow high quality fruit. Plant 20-30 ft apart. Pear Pollination: Plant at least two different varieties of pear. Some trees produce very little pollen and make poor pollinators. If planting a poor pollinator, plant at least two other varieties. The more the merrier!
