REPLICA ON-FIELD BASEBALL SWEATERS JUST LIKE HOW THEY WORE IT History: After six decades of two eight-team leagues, the first wave of MLB expansion came in 1961 when the American League added two clubs. The new SoCal-based AL team took the name of the historical Pacific Coast League club, the LA Angels, and played their first year in the PCL team’s park, Wrigley Field. In 1962 the Angels moved into Dodger Stadium until their own ballpark in Anaheim was ready in 1965, at which team the club became known as the California Angels. When we released our first collection of shawl-collar MLB sweaters, we were delighted with the response. Of course, one common reaction was “Where’s my team?” Of course, as the shawl collar sweaters were worn on-field only into the early 1930s, our original selections were limited to the original sixteen clubs.
