History: There is a tradition with the LSU Tigers baseball team wherein the #8 jersey is given each season to the upperclassman who best exemplifies the spirit of LSU baseball through his leadership and dedication to the program. Although this tradition started roughly 50 years after the 1954 season, we decided to pay homage to the 6-time College World Series champions by adorning our inaugural LSU jersey with the #8.
