REPLICA ON-FIELD BASEBALL SWEATERS JUST LIKE HOW THEY WORE IT History: After losing the Braves half a decade earlier, Milwaukee was back in the majors when a bankruptcy judge ruled that the Seattle Pilots be sold to Milwaukee businessman (and future Commissioner) Bud Selig. The team adopted the nickname of the former American Association team. Events transpired so quickly that there was no time to order new uniforms, and the newly christened Brewers appeared in the Pilots uniforms (complete with nautical stripes on the sleeves) but with the lettering torn off and new “BREWERS” letters sewn in their place. The Brewers became the first team to switch leagues in 1998 when they moved to the National League after having spent their previous eighteen seasons in the AL.
