Shengquan Dan - Oboist, DMA Candidate at Rutgers University and Adjunct Oboe Instructor at NYU

Born in 1995, Dan Shengquan is currently a DMA candidate at Rutgers Mason Gross School of Art. He completed the Advanced Diploma and Master of Music degree on oboe performance from New York University, where he studied with Humbert Lucarelli, Matthew Sullivan, Gilles Cheng and Liang Wang. Dan earned his bachelor’s degree of economics from American University in Washington D.C., where he had also studied with Rika Brent, and won the American University concerto competition in 2016. He performed Lebrun Oboe Concerto in d minor with the American University Symphony Orchestra. As an active performer and free-lance oboist in the Greater New York area, Mr. Shengquan plays for the Eastern Winds Symphony since 2019. He also plays regularly with the Chelsea Symphony and Orchestras at Brooklyn College. Dan was a candidate for the principal oboist position at L.A. Philharmonic in 2019.
