View of the Chrysler Building dome construction from the 67th Floor showing the extreme peak at 1046 feet 3/4 inches above Lexington Avenue street level. June 20, 1930. Sheet metal is fastened to wooden nailing strips placed atop a thin layer of nailing concrete that coats the spire's structural-steel frame. To avoid contact between dissimilar metals, Nirosta steel nails, screws, bolts, nuts, and rivets are used to fix the sheet metal in place.
