Periscope Earrings

November 2016Almandine garnet, sterling silver I'm a huge fan of the Danish Modern/Arts & Crafts movement in jewelry design, and these odd little earrings are an homage to that aesthetic. I was playing around with setting stones on the tips of thicker wire stock, and thought it would be more interesting to get a full view of the stone, necessitating the gentle 90-degree turn in the pieces. It kind of reminds me of the tip of a periscope, or even an alien pseudopod, but I like the way the garnets stick out away from the wearer.
