1950s Svante Skogh for Asko 'Pallas' Club or Armchair Made in Finland
1950's Svante Skogh for Asko 'Pallas' club or armchair made in Finland. Chair features a sculptural frame, wooden platform arm rests, loose seat cushion, and button tufted back. Upholstered in a simmering golden tan eye fabric. This spectacular chair by Skogh is a rather rare example of the interior and furniture designer’s repertoire. With a creative and masterfully crafted wooden structure, this lounge chair praises both Skogh and Asko. Asko was Finland’s leading furniture manufacturer from the 1930s. The company worked with many renowned Scandinavian designers during the mid-century era including Skogh (Sweden). This “Pallas” lounge chair was manufactured together with a sofa during the 1950s and remain quite rare. This chair is not marked and missing the original maker's label. However, based on research, and other mid-century items acquired from the estate, we can confidently attribute this chair to Svante Skogh.
