Early 20th Century Chinese Republic period bronze sculpture. A fun and playful subject of a Chinese man banging on a drum while a little boy, sitting on a large gourd, stares in admiration. A fine casting with stunning details. Beautiful natural bronze patina. The Chinese word for gourd—hu lu—is a homophone of the words 'protection' and 'good fortune.
