Click here for Tea Care Guide Camellia sinensis – Tea A dense, rounded evergreen shrub, Camellia sinensis is valued both as a beautiful ornamental and as the source of all true teas—white, green, and black. Its glossy, dark green leaves contrast with charming fall blooms of white petals and yellow centers. Compact and well-shaped, the Tea Camellia typically grows about 6 feet tall and 5 feet wide. It performs best in dappled shade and sheltered locations, especially on the east side of a building in Zone 7. Though sensitive to strong winter winds and extreme cold (which may cause temporary defoliation), it’s as hardy or hardier than most camellias. Tea Camellia is naturally resistant to insects and disease. Tender young leaves are harvested throughout the growing season for tea production.Space: 6' circle  Zones: 6b–8 Plant Characteristics Pest Resistance: Excellent Disease Resistance: Excellent Drought Tolerance: Good Heat Tolerance: Good Humidity Tolerance: Very Good Sun Toler
