Vitis vinifera x lubrusa - Villard Blanc A highly disease-resistant wine grape that also serves as a good fresh-eating variety and an attractive ornamental vine. It grows well from Texas to New Jersey and is one of the easiest grapes to prune due to its minimal tendrils. The grape clusters can weigh up to 5#, and the vine should be spaced 8' to 10' apart on a two-wire trellis. While it may require sprays for black rot, a "bagging" method of protecting the grape clusters (as seen in the included photo) can help avoid the need for chemical sprays. Grapes ripen in late September (around the 25th) at the nursery. Ideal for Zones 7-9.
