The medium to large, long-necked fruits have pale green skin, occasionally blushed with red. Excellent for fresh eating and a good keeper. Highly resistant to fire blight, this variety has become a favorite in home orchards. It was discovered by T.O. Warren of Hattiesburg, MS, who found the tree at a USDA test plot near his home. Believed to be a seedling from USDA breeder Dr. Magness’ work in Beltsville, MD, the Warren pear shares its lineage with the Magness pear and has similar disease resistance and fruit quality.
