An early-ripening Fuyu-type persimmon, Wase Fuyu ripens before Ichi and Maekawa Jiro. Though often sold as Fuyu in stores, this selection is distinct for its earlier harvest window. The fruit has excellent flavor with high sugar content. The tree is vigorous, very productive, and has a spreading form. Usually begins fruiting early, in the second or third year. Fruits hang well on the tree past its mature picking date. Mature height is 10–12 ft. Space trees in 12‑ft circles. Hardy in USDA Zones 6–9.
