About This Composition “El Choclo” was written close to the turn of the 20th century (approximately 1905) by Angel Villoldo. The title “El Choclo” (the ear of corn, or the corn cob) was the nickname of a bouncer in Buenos Aires. The nickname is believed to be a reference to the color of the bouncer’s hair.
