 Reverse: José Gabriel Condorcanqui, called Túpac Amaru II (1738 - 1781). He was the leader of an indigenous revolt against the Spaniards of colonial Peru. Later, despite his defeat, he became a legendary figure in the struggle for Peru's independence, for the rights of indigenous peoples, and for a host of other causes.
