Inspired by one of the world’s earliest coins, this pendant is a modern recreation of the ancient Lydian lion stater from the 6th century BCE. The original coin was hand-struck in the Kingdom of Lydia, an ancient region located in what is now western Turkey, often called the birthplace of coinage. Its bold lion symbol represented strength, courage, and royal power. I reimagined this historic piece as a solid-gold pendant, keeping the organic, imperfect shape of the ancient coin while refining the details for everyday wear.
