Our Fathers, Our Grandfathers, Our Heroes: The Navajo Code Talkers of World War II A Photographic Exhibit
Curated by Dr. Zonnie Gorman, this publication and photographic exhibition is a project about the famous Navajo Code Talkers of World War II by the Circle of Light Navajo Educational Project. The original exhibit, shown at the Navajo Nation Museum in 2001-2002, was the final student project in a year-long oral history of the Navajo Code Talkers by Wingate High School students. Partners in the project include: the School-to-Work program, UNM-Gallup, and the Navajo Nation Museum. This is one of the best books about Navajo Code Talkers and the First Twenty-nine Navajo men who created the Navajo Code that helped win the war. While primarily a photographic exhibit in book form, it is filled with historical images of the Navajo Code Talkers and contextualized text about these Navajo men creating the Navajo Code and cementing their place in both US and Navajo history!
