LV-792 Giant Sequoia & Desert Ironwood Hand Turned Footed Vase, Hollow Form-RARE
This is a nice, small vase made out of Giant Sequoia (Sequoiadendron giganteum) and Desert Ironwood (Olneya tesota) cap. The Giant Sequoias are the mammoths of the tree kingdom, which hold title of the world's largest tree, and also among the oldest living things on earth. It is a California native and is the only species in it's genus. The wood is not often seen utilized due to it's rarity. What makes this one even more special is the multiple crotch section of a small branch that I turned cross-grain to show the beautiful knots and swirls of the vein. Woods from large trunks often do not have such a striking pattern. There is also a small patch of natural edge around the opening. This is a one-of-a-kind item made out of the venerable Giant Sequoia. Dimension (largest diameter x height): 2-5/8" x 2-1/2"Catalog Number: LV792PLEASE READ:-- All wood turned items were hand made and/or hand threaded on a lathe. Hardwood threaded inserts were used for woods that do not accept threading well
