
Global Proximity Mobile Payment Users: eMarketer's Estimates for 2016–2021
WHAT’S IN THIS REPORT? This report includes eMarketer’s first-ever forecast for global proximity mobile payment users. Consumers across the globe are warming up to proximity mobile payments. In 2018, for the first time, more than one-third (34.9%) of smartphone users ages 14 and older will use a mobile phone to pay for a purchase at a physical point of sale (POS) at least once every six months. China is the global leader in proximity mobile payment adoption, accounting for 61.2% of the worldwide user base in 2018.
