1977 Gibson Grabber G-3
Summary: Introduced in 1975 as a companion to the Gibson Grabber, the G-3 (which stands for Grabber 3) introduced a new pickup scheme to the already established body style. Instead of a sliding pickup as was present in the Grabber, the G-3 featured a so-called "buck-and-a-half" trio of single coils. Along with a tone and volume control, the G-3 featured a three-way switch linked in with three Bill Lawrence single coil pickups. Famous players of this bass include John Entwistle of The Who, Mike Dirnt of Green Day, and Krist Novoselic of Nirvana.Body: Solid, double cutaway, gloss natural finish. Neck: Bolt-on Maple with a Maple fingerboard, 34” scale length, 1 5/8” nut width, 20 frets, pearl dot inlays. Pickups/Hardware: Three single coil pickups, Gibson open gear tuning keys, master volume/master tone controls/3-way pickup selector, 4-ply black pickguard, pickup cover. Cosmetics: This bass is in great shape for a vintage bass from 1977. It has a few nicks, ding, and scuffs on the body.
