108 Chengrezig Thangka About Our Thangka : Chenrezig is the most renowned Bodhisattva, embodying the compassion of all Buddhas. He is also known as Avalokitesvara, which means "Unwavering Eye." He listens to the cries of all sentient beings during times of conflict and trouble. In a devotional gesture, his two front hands clasp in front of his jewel-draped heart. On his upper right hand, he wears a crystal akshamala, or rosary, representing the never-ending cycle. His left hand is carrying a white lotus, indicating that he liberates conscious beings from the muddy streams of agony and hellish places, guiding them to higher levels of enlightenment. He's dressed in silk and sits on a row of lotus petals, his legs in the meditational "diamond pose."
