Kagyu Protector, Mahakala Bernagchen Thangka In Nakthang Style Our artist has portrayed this beautiful Kagyu Protector Mahakala Benagchen Thangka in traditional black and gold settings. This tradition is also called Nakthang in Tibet. Cloak of Darkness Mahakala has a single face, three-round bulbous eyes, and a wide gaping mouth with white clenched teeth. Like flames, his gold beard, eyebrows, and hair flow upward. A curved flaying knife with a vajra handle is held aloft by the right hand. A white blood-filled skullcup is held to the heart by the left.
