Bearing a Birmingham hallmark for 1891, this 18k gold jewel was meant to be worn by a man at the center of his starched white shirt's neck area. Wheat, of course, has been a symbol of abundance and prosperity since at least Ancient Egypt, but a DIAMOND wheat sheaf screams "I'VE MADE IT"! I imagine it marked someone's promotion or celebrated a financial milestone. Much personal engraving appears on the back. underside of the face is engraved W. Nest back plate is engraved: N. Brooks to J.W. Brooks Xmas 1891 MATERIALS: 18k gold (marked), 5 1.7mm rose cut diamonds AGE: Birmingham hallmark for 1891/dated Xmas 1891 CONDITION: Very good SIZE: 3/4" diameter of the face, 5/8" diameter of the back plate, 2 1/4" safety chain
