DETAILS These antique, very heavy, solid rosewood doors are the finest we have ever found. They once formed the grand entry to a British building in the time of the Raj in Southern India. They are designed like palace doors or doors from the finest Portuguese buildings at the time. The arched shaped panels followed the stone Gothic arch of the architecture. Note the thick raised, moulded panels studded with cast decorated brass nail heads (clavos) shown on the front, with huge wide single plank on the back. Similar nails can be seen on the door of the 12th century Templar church in Portugal. ORIGIN Southern India PERIOD Early 19th century DATE Circa 1820 DIMENSIONS Width 58 Depth 4 Height 120 inches
