North German Rococo Painted Oak Corner Cabinet

DETAILS This robustly executed, antique oak cupboard features an arched cornice with hand carved, conventionalized shell ornamentation on the sides. It surmounts double doors with applied, carved floral details; which open to reveal deep, butterfly shelves. The low base also has double doors and terminates on bracket feet. This bold piece now sports a very dark brown painted finish. It was found in a German Bierstube.
