DETAILS This antique hanging light fixture displays neoclassical palmette/anthemion design elements in the Empire Revival style. The large white opal, pressed glass bowl is suspended by a newly added fitter rim and chains. Bayley called this line of bent, leaded, white opal light fixtures Equalite. Bayley & Sons was a division of the Unique Art Glass & Metal Company (Brooklyn, NY). LITERATURE Paul Crist, Mosaic Shades, Volume 2, p. 33, 44-45. MAKER Attributed to Bayley & Sons, Inc. (New York/Brooklyn, NY, 1913-c. 1925) DATE Circa 1913 and later DIMENSIONS Width 23 Depth 23 Height 53 inches CONDITION Note: the rim and chain are later additions. Recently rewired.
