7 Antique c1860 Portuguese Silver Coffee Tea Dessert Spoons Sugar Shovel
Presented is a fine set of 7 Portuguese silver spoons. The set consists of six coffee, tea or dessert spoons, and a larger scoop for serving sugar, jelly, etc. Two of the spoons date to 1853-1862, while the remaining spoons date to the late 1800s or early 1900s. The two older spoons are slightly smaller and have a simpler design on the handle, which matches the design on the handle of the serving spoon. The remaining four spoons have a slightly different design and are slightly longer. The serving spoon has a monogram of AF in elegant script. The four slightly longer spoons have a monogram of LF in similar script. The remaining two spoons have no monograms. The two smaller spoons have older Portuguese hallmarks, a P crowned for the city of Oporto guaranteeing a silver purity of 958, used between 1853-1862, as well as a maker's mark of APC. Between these two marks on each of the two spoons is the typical mark left by the Portuguese assay, a long zigzag. The remaining five spoons each h
