Antique 1802 English Georgian Sterling Silver Stout Coffeepot Teapot

Presented is a fine quality English Georgian sterling silver coffee pot or teapot made by John Emes of London. The pot is decorated with four bands of elegant die rolled leaf decoration and has a black wooden handle and finial. The finial is attached with the old bolt construction underneath. The pot is fully hallmarked on the underside with the lion passant for sterling silver, the leopard’s head crowned for London, the date letter ‘G’ for 1802, the duty mark of King George III’s head, and a maker’s mark of JE for John Emes. The underside of the lid is also stamped with the lion passant. The condition is excellent. There are two small splits to the lid which we have pointed out in the photographs, and there are a few little dents and dings here and there, but this is quite minor. The handle is tight to the body. I believe the handle has been repainted at the very least if not replaced. The wood finial is also repainted if not replaced. The pot is clean on the interior and ready to use
