c1910s-1920s Carved Green Jade 14k Yellow Gold Bracelet Flowers and Birds Design
Presented is a lovely vintage 14 karat yellow gold and jade bracelet. This piece dates to around the 1910s-1920s and is likely of Chinese origin. The bracelet consists of five beautifully hand carved jade disks, three carved with intricate floral decorations and two with birds, in a nice medium green with lighter mottling. The jade carvings are prong set in gold frames, which are each connected with oval filigree openwork links in between. The attachment point between the chain and the jade settings is higher up the side instead of at the midpoint, but we aren't sure if this is a design choice or if this was once a longer necklace that was converted for wear as a bracelet. The bracelet has a springring style clasp with attached safety chain for additional security. The bracelet is not stamped or hallmarked, but we have tested it with nitric acid and guarantee it to be at least 14 karat gold. This piece is in excellent condition. The jade pieces have no chips and are securely set. The
