Nice German Hanau 800 Silver Genre Tavern Scene Oval Snuff or Trinket Box

Presented is a charming antique German 800 silver snuff box or trinket box. The lid is beautifully hand decorated with a detailed genre scene, depicting three men drinking in a tavern. The sides of the box are decorated with intricate Rococo style scrollwork, incorporating birds and Medusa masks. The interior of the box has a gold wash. This box is in great condition. The lid closes nicely. No breaks and no repairs. This piece is stamped with Hanau German pseudo-hallmarks, emulating pre-Revolution French silver marks. The silver is at least 800 purity, nitric acid tested and guaranteed. The box measures about 2 1/2 by 2 by 7/8 inches, LxWxH. This piece weighs 70 grams. -jm
