In Tarot, each card depicts an image of a symbol or a scene that is itself symbolic. The newest additions to our Plant Cult series is analogous to this. Each design was created in joyful collaboration with the amazing and talented Italian designer Novella Locritani to depict specific messages regarding animal rights and animal agriculture. This card, "The Mother", depicts the harsh reality behind the image of the happy dairy cow in a green field beneath the bright warm sun. Human mothers are far from the only species on earth who develop immediate emotional bonds with their children. The demand for dairy products is the direct cause for the breaking of this bond. Cows must be continually impregnated if they are to become a consistent and reliable source of milk production, and so after the 9-10 month lactation period, dairy farms that utilize this practice allow for 2 months of restoration for the mother before they impregnate her once again; forcing her to relive the trauma again and
