Superb handmade porcelain figure of Hotei, 3.5" h by 2.25" w by 2.25" d and Goddess Benzatein Kutani Japanese Porcelain Figurine 2" by 2" by 3.5" H Benzaiten Goddess of Eloquence/Music Hotei is one of the Japanese Seven Gods of Fortune, depicts a symbol of Fortune, Contentment, and Joy - widely known as the Happy Laughing Buddha. Gilded and hand-painted with the Moriage art technique, characterized by bright designs highlighted in raised detail, it is typical of Kutani ware, a type of porcelain from Japan produced in the Edo period.
