AKA, Nero di Toscana Cabbage , Black Tuscan, Black Palm Tree or Dinosaur Kale With so many aliases, it’s no wonder Lacinato Kale is one of the most popular variety of kale in our gardens! Those long black-green leaves are heavily savoyed  and loaded with nutrition. A single serving can have up to three times the recommended daily vitamin A, plus loads of minerals, calcium, and vitamin C, as well as lots of fiber and protein. A truly a miraculous plant and a great yielder. The plants can grow to 2 feet and will keep producing for a long season, well into the cold winter months. In fact, a frost only makes the leaves sweeter. The plants easily overwinter ours in an unheated hoophouse or under row cover in our Connecticut climate. Comes the spring, they produce wonderful florets that make a gourmet broccoli substitute. Leave the flower heads to full develop and attract loads of pollinators! Lacinato Kale dates back to the 1700's and does well in all grow zones, in full sun to part-shade.
