An old favorite and a great American classic. Good yields with excellent-tasting, rich, orange-colored flesh. Great baked! Introduced by Bob Young of Waltham, Massachusetts, in 1970. Waltham Butternut Squash is more uniform in shape and size, with fewer crooknecks. This butternut squash has an excellent interior texture and color. Typically grows 8"x4" and can weigh up to 6 lbs. Harvest when the skin is too hard to pierce with a fingernail and allow the squash to cure for a month before eating for the best flavor. Good resistance to Squash Vine borer and vigor on this strain. Cucurbita moschata Days to Harvest: 100 Packet contains a minimum of 20 seeds
