Oil graphics hold a special place in Irina Petrakova’s artistic practice. In her works created with oil sticks, solid figures intertwine with body parts and abstract forms. Many of these figures are anthropomorphic: arms, legs, and other fragments of the human body respond to the space around them, bending and reshaping themselves to echo the contours of the sheet. They inhabit a self-contained world, confined within the rectangle of the page, without any attempt to look beyond its borders.
