Medicine Buddha Introduction To The Thangka : The Buddha of Medicine is the focus of three sutras in the Tibetan Kangyur. One sutra describes the twelve goals of the Buddha of Medicine, another sutra describes the seven other medicine buddhas' goals, and the third sutra describes the dharanis, or mantras, of all the Buddhas of treatment together. He plays a significant role in the Four Medical Tantras as well, which serve as the foundation for Tibetan medicine and a variety of therapeutic sadhanas.How to take care of your thangka? -Hang your thangka in a traditional silk brocade-Regular Inspection of your thangka; examine the borders and all attachments.-Keep thangkas covered when they are on display but not in use.-Rotate thangkas between display and storage on a regular basis, two to four times a year, to reduce the amount of exposure to light.
