Tsongkhapa Thangka About Our Thangka:Tsongkhapa resided in Tibet's Amdo area in the 14th century A.D. He was the Gelukpa sect's founder and reformer. He is thought to be the manifestation of Manjusri, the personification of knowledge.He was initiated as a monk at a young age and began studying Buddha's philosophy. He proceeded to central Tibet to further his study. For several years, he studied both Sutra and Tantra in depth. Randhawa was his primary instructor, from whom he learnt the Mdhyamika ideology espoused by Nagarjuna.How to take care of your thangka?-Hang your thangka in a traditional silk brocade-Regular Inspection of your thangka; examine the borders and all attachments.-Keep thangkas covered when they are on display but not in use.-Rotate thangkas between display and storage on a regular basis, two to four times a year, to reduce the amount of exposure to light. Keep away from sunlight and humidity.-Do not apply liquids or other materials to the surface of the thangka.-----
