La Zerba 'Il Galletto' Gavi del Comune di Tassarolo 2024 (Piedmont, Italy)
Nestled in the beautiful green hills of Gavi, La Zerba was founded in 1973 by Livio Lorenzi. Now a full-fledged family affair, the estate is run today by Livio’s two children, Luigi and Grazia, as well as Grazia’s husband Andrea. The name ‘La Zerba’ means ‘uncultivated place’ in local dialect, a fitting name given the winery’s long time dedication to organic viticulture. This 100% Cortese is fruity and fresh, with a wonderfully textures mouthfeel and plenty of minerally freshness. Bright aromas of white flowers, citrus, and stone fruit on the nose lead in to a palate loaded with notes of ripe pear, peach, and melon, with a hint of crunchy green apple that provides a pleasant zip on the finish. Food Ideas: Shrimp louie salad, risotto primavera, lemon basil halibut, pesto lasagna, Thai green curry, creamy seafood chowder ABV: 13.5%
