Sisters Annamaria and Clara Sala tend their 130 hectare estate that they inherited from their great-grandmother, Signora Dora, who purchased the land in the early 1900s. They named the winery, Tenuta Gorghi Tondi, after a WWF protected site and bird sanctuary near their property. Their bond to the environment is obvious in more than just the name, as the estate uses clean energy and has banned the use of any synthetic chemicals. Unlike some Nero d’Avolas that can be dense and fruity, this wine is lighter and brighter, showcasing elegant acidity and juicy red fruit. The vineyard’s nearly seaside location also gives the wine a lovely hint of saline minerality. Delightful fresh and young, this wine could also be cellared for 5 years! Food Ideas: Oxtail stew, mushroom & bacon burger, wood-fired pizza, lamb gyro, fish puttanesca, mushroom risotto 100% Nero d'Avola ABV: 13%
