Veluri Pirosmani 2022 (Kakheti, Georgia)
Saperavi is an ancient grape varietal indigenous to The Republic of Georgia, often heralded as the birthplace of wine, as winemaking is believed to have begun there over 8,000 years ago. The name Saperavi means “dye” in Georgian, in reference to this teinturier grape’s dark skin and red flesh. The name “Pirosmani” on the bottle denotes a juicy and more fruit-forward style of vinifying Saperavi, making this bottle a perfect match for hearty, very flavorful dishes. Ripe dark fruit notes are balanced by a subtle earthiness, a hint of sweet tobacco, and very soft tannins providing good structure to this easy going red. Food Ideas: Sweet & spicy BBQ ribs, lamb pierogi with wild mushrooms, eggplant & potato gratin, pork chops with pickled peaches 100% Saperavi ABV: 13%
