In the final issue of the Marvel Comics series, Ghost Rider #81, Johnny Blaze is separated from Zarathos. Zarathos follows Blaze into a crystal, freeing him from the curse and restoring his soul. This ends Blaze's time as the Ghost Rider. The issue is titled "Death" of Ghost Rider and the Centurions. The only way to save both their lives is for a hellspawn to make the ultimate sacrifice.
