By Michael Harrison. “A Biography of HRH The Duke of” — Edward VII’s “elder son” and often a popular (if, IMO, absurdist) suspect in the Ripper murders. Harrison claims not to “seek to create new scandal” with this investigation, which is a bit off-model for an author usually primarily focused on Sherlock Holmes. A 1974 U.S. hardcover edition, the jacket’s a bit down at heel: spots, toning, cornerwear. The book’s front hinge is somewhat weak as well. Other than that, though, neat and clean within, no writing or dog-ears. A solid reading or research copy.
