In Lederer's contemporary riff on the classic still life, her compositions revere symbols of relevant consumer goods like cans of La Croix, Adidas slides, and branded water bottles, as well as iconic references to her New York City upbringing that range from Picasso's Sylvette to deli coffee cups. Her scenes are peppered with vibrant floral patterns reminiscent of Marimekko, which bring a graphic sensibility to the work. Lederer's The Bathers is candid yet composed, a clever reference to the 21st century fascination with recording everyday moments.
