Death Note's iconic Shinigami with an obsession for "keeping the doctor away", Ryuk is lazy, not very bright, and more than a little whiny. He is a refreshing villain, in the sense that he is not as outwardly threatening as one would expect. That's why when the violence does come, it is that much more unforgettable. Ryuk's candle is scented with apple, obviously, yet there are notes of earth and sour apple that make it much more complex than at first glance. Much like Ryuk.
